'Sugarland' Named as Defendant in Stage Collapse Suit

The popular country duo Sugarland has been named among the latest defendants in a lawsuit involving the Indiana State Fair stage collapse in August, which killed seven people and injured dozens of others, according to court documents.

The lawsuit, filed by several victims on Tuesday in Marion County Superior Court, claims Sugarland, the concert producer, the company in charge of security and others were negligent in failing to build a safe stage, failing to monitor weather reports and failing to cancel the concert when weather conditions worsened.

The families of four people killed in the collapse and others who were injured are listed among the plaintiffs. The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages and legal fees.

Over 100 victims have already filed notices of tort claims with the state in connection with the stage collapse.
